Rev. Mandy Achterberg

Hi I am Mandy Achterberg, ordained pastor and spiritual director.

From as early as I can remember I was stumping the pastor in Sunday School and often did not think my big questions were welcome. I entered seminary not really knowing what God was up to, but that maybe there would be a place for my questions, my whole self, and maybe I was called to help create spaces for others to ask their big questions, bring their doubts, and find community too.

It turned out that I had enough questions that upon completion of my Masters of Divinity I was encouraged and given the opportunity to explore more through a Masters of Sacred Theology where I dove into study on the impact of communal grief and the importance of tending to our sense of loss and grief in times of transition. My work of deep exploration of pastoral care and tending to the unique needs of individuals and communities in times of transition set me on a path of wondering what spiritual practices might help guide us in these times.

I found spiritual direction to be a place to help me connect my desire for compassionate curiosity for God and God’s people. A place where big questions, doubts, and big feelings (anger, hurt, joy) were given space to be asked and expressed.

I am honored to accompany along our individual and collective spiritual journeys. I find joy in create spaces where people can encounter the sacred, explore faith, ask hard questions, and listen for the still small voice of God within and around. I believe that God meets us in our everyday lives - in our joys and struggles, our doubts and our revelations.

Whether you are seeking clarity, healing, or a deeper connection with the Divine, I am here and honored to walk alongside you.
